As a therapist, I specialize in helping individuals live intentionally while effectively managing life's stressors. Together, we'll tap into your internal resources and develop strategies, drawing from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Let's identify your core values and cultivate healthy thoughts and behaviors that align with your true character. I also utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) in helping individuals experience healing and resilience by processing distressing memories through eye movements and visualization.

Parenting is far from easy. You know your teen needs someone to talk to and yet they aren't sharing anything. Or maybe you're seeing your child struggling through a tough transition. You'd love for them to vent to you but all they do is shut down. Therapy is an opportunity to add an additional partner as you support your child.

During the journey of life, we will experience many “hills and valleys,” joys and sorrows, hurts and healings. At times, it can be emotionally difficult to navigate through some of life's most challenging journeys. During these moments, you can be left feeling alone, hopeless, anxious and wondering "what do I do next, how do I overcome this, does anyone care?” When experiencing these types of thoughts and emotions, it can be beneficial to find a comforting and competent therapist to help you acquire and develop the cognitive and behavioral coping skills that promote hope, healing and positivity that allow for a harmonious life.

Do you feel unsure of who you are now? Perhaps you are going through a transition in your life and trying to understand how to get along. Maybe you feel like you aren’t yourself because of intense, persistent feelings of some kind. Maybe your past is dragging you down. Maybe your relationships at home, work, or in your community are not as satisfying as you wish they could be. You’re starting to think, you need an outside perspective; It’s hard to sort through this alone. These thoughts have got you asking, “Will psychotherapy help? Can it really change things? Is it worth it?”

Challenges in life are essential to human growth and development, but sometimes these stressful events in life can become overwhelming. Anxiety, depressed moods, anger, irritability, acting out and even addictive and/or compulsive type behaviors are natural responses once internal coping skills have been exhausted. These symptoms can have devastating effects on relationships, work and many other life domains. However, with the assistance of a skilled therapist, these symptoms can be managed and relief is possible.

I don’t have a couch, and I’m not going to ask you to talk about your feelings all session. You have a problem, and I want to help you find the solution, so you don’t need to come to therapy. In my experience, people tend to come to therapy due to something failing to grow or be safe. Unsafe emotions, unsafe behaviors, lack of communication, lack of connection, and understanding that these issues arise in all relationships rather we are talking about parent child or intimate partners. How we deal with conflict matters, because it dictates the relationship and boundaries with our kids, friends, family, and partners.

Now more than ever, people are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and uncertain about finding their place in life. I offer therapy for teens, adults, and couples. Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
