I work with children, teens, and adults, to explore and process challenges, and to find peace in the midst of turmoil.

The world is full of stress and each individual sees the world and their stress uniquely. I believe that there is no one-size-fits all approach to therapy and I prioritize meeting the individual where they are. A client's self-awareness and choices are key to developing self-direction and independence. My techniques will include interventions from Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Narrative, Emotion Focused and other systemic approaches. I believe success in counseling comes from a strong rapport and trustworthy working relationship between counselor and client. I operate from a strengths-based and encouragement-focused approach.

Having been married for 12 years and a parent for 10. I have done the very things I will ask you to do. Let me show you how to have the most amazing connection. I have grown to know intimacy without shame or fear. Sometimes, I help people divorce. If you are struggling with this decision, let me help you understand what is happening and give direction. Perhaps you and your partner want to work out your separation in my office. You don't have to be enemies and you don't have to be alone in this journey. There are times when ending a relationship is the best thing two people can do.

You lay in bed at night wondering if your partner will ever see your pain. You feel alone, unimportant, unappreciated. You do not feel the love you once felt. Now it feels like you are just roommates. You try to talk with your partner about what is bothering you. But your partner either misses your pain or it turns into an argument. The two of you just end up further apart and more alone. You know you cannot do this anymore. The pain is too much.

Overwhelmed? Are you a woman struggling with anxiety or depression, relationship issues, past trauma or parenting and have a limited support system? Maybe you’ve gotten in the habit of putting everyone else’s needs before your own or people pleasing. Being a mom is hard. Life can be hard. Anxious thoughts or depressive feelings are getting difficult to manage and perhaps past traumas are complicating things more. Emotional abuse has taken a toll.

We all reach points in our lives where what we know so far has left us stuck. Maybe we are stuck in our valued relationships, or simply within ourselves, with old stories and emotions we wish could move and change. If you are seeking therapy today, congratulations! You are already moving toward gaining a new perspective toward yourself and your relationships. Maybe you have a specific goal in mind-- perhaps to change a dynamic in your marriage or with your your children. Maybe you want to relieve a symptom-- depression, anxiety or a habit you can't change. Maybe you just have the vague sense that parts of your self got left behind.

“People start to heal the moment they feel heard”. Research shows that a primary factor in determining success of therapy is the therapeutic alliance; I fully believe in the healing power of simply feeling seen and heard. Before any modalities or interventions are successful, we must first feel aligned with, safe and trust the therapist we are working with.

Life is a journey, and during the inevitable times when rocky waters toss us around, it helps to have a person in your life who has successfully navigated the rivers, and made it to the other side, where the waters are calm and smooth. I have always been the person people opened up to about what was bothering them. I was born to witness your journey. I am a professionally trained counselor and art therapist. I want to help you understand what has gotten you to this point in your life and determine where to go from there.

Anyone can slay a dragon, he told me, but try waking up every morning and loving the world all over again. That's what takes a real hero. The writer and artist Brian Andreas' message epitomizes heroism. Everyone struggles and encounters obstacles. During times of hardship, heartache, or conflict all of us need validation and empathy. Being seen, known, and understood are universal human needs. Therapy can help us find tools and inner resources to navigate difficulties with support and strength.

I believe creating a supportive and safe therapeutic relationship is the introduction to pursuing mental health and well being. Relationships cause brokenness and pain, but they are also the source of healing. My goal is to form a trusting relationship where you feel heard, valued and validated. As we journey together, you will begin to explore how your past is connected to and currently impacts your present. It is through this exploration and a strong therapeutic relationship that you can begin to embrace and work with the life you've been given. I am honored and excited to walk through this adventure with you.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
