I view counseling as walking down the hallway of life and trying to close the doors to one's past. As one walks down the hallway, one must walk into each room and decide what to hold on to and what to let go of. I understands that seeking therapy can be really difficult and enjoys using humor when appropriate. I am compassionate therapist at times but can be blunt. I do not want to waste your time or money therefore I will work hard with you to come up with a treatment plan that works best. My background includes working on a National Burn unit, ICU, ER, Psychiatric hospital, and managing a residential group home.
I provide individual therapy only with adults who are 18 or older and out of high school. I have worked almost 15 years in the Emergency department and really enjoy working with EMS, Firefighters, police and health care workers. I understand how difficult it can be working in those fields and some of the dark sense of humor that can go along with it.
I have my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in Colorado and post graduate training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and I am a Certified Addictions counselor level III (CAC III). I was Counselor of the year for the state of Colorado and have collaborated with various media outlets.
