The body carries the legacy of trauma and attachment dynamics in habits of movement, posture and nervous system regulation that can keep us stuck in the past. Therapeutic engagement doesn't have to be dysregulating and overwhelming. You shouldn't leave a therapy session feeling worse than you did when you showed up. Unfortunately, traditional talk therapies can inadvertently trigger your nervous system into survival mode. If we aren't tracking and recognizing what is happening underneath the words, therapy can feel excruciating, especially if there is a history of trauma at any stage of development.
I utilize a therapeutic process that incorporates body awareness and studies the procedural habits of action (behaviors), posture and autonomic nervous system dysregulation. This somatic approach supports a deep level of healing that shifts procedural habits in a unified way. It's healing that goes beyond words.
When patterns continue to emerge despite our best efforts, it can be painstaking and even hopeless. If you are feeling stuck, bewildered, confused, hopeless, you are not alone. I will step into that space with you, meeting you where you are at and together we can explore what needs to happen to heal.
