Kristian Kemtrup
Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT
Location
I see people as having rich, complex human emotions that are not well described with overly simple and often stigmatizing diagnostic labels like depression or generalized anxiety. Each person is entirely unique, with their own history, strengths, and challenges. In therapy, I will work with you to better understand yourself. When we can understand why you might be feeling or thinking or acting in a way that is not best for you, we can work together to change it in a way that is tailored to your needs and your circumstances.
I am specialized in treating individual adults facing a wide variety of problems including depression and anxiety, childhood trauma, relationship problems, workplace and school related stress, low self-esteem, difficulty grieving a death or lost relationship, and feelings of meaninglessness or emptiness.
My therapeutic work draws on my training at The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, The Wright Institute, Marina Counseling, The Pacific Center, and my background as a philosophy PhD and educator. I have experience treating people from various socioeconomic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and from across the LGBTQ spectrum.
