Research shows the primary agent for positive change in counseling is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. I know sitting down with a relative stranger to discuss life concerns can be unsettling. My ability to establish a genuine connection with my clients helps them to feel at ease while engaging in therapy. Coupling empathy, creativity, and compassion, with evidenced-based practice, I address a variety of mental health issues including adjustment issues/life transitions, anxiety and depression, PTSD, shame, adolescent and women's issues.
As a Certified Daring Way Facilitator, I use methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown which explores vulnerability, courage, shame, values, trust, and worthiness. Participants are invited to examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors holding them back, developing shame resilience, and identifying new practices toward more wholehearted living.
I also specialize in working with teens, young adults, and college students, addressing the many pressures and difficulties they face including self-worth issues, self-harm, relationships, stress, trauma, transitions, depression/anxiety. I enjoy getting to know my clients and getting creative with an approach to match their interests and personality.
