Oftentimes life doesn't turn out the way we had planned. Still other times, the plans we made aren't what we thought they'd be at all!! During these times, we could all use a bit of help, sometimes even professional help. That's where I come in. I have the privilege of working with individuals, couples, and families from the tween years through late adulthood— during times of transition, sadness, strife and downright crisis.
I use multiple strategies in counseling, but I start from a client-centered approach. My primary goal is to build an open, trusting relationship. I'll provide authentic acceptance and empathy; then I'll use my personal and professional experience to help clients through a wide array of issues: (See sidebar)
With couples, I use my (Level One and Level Two) training in the Gottman Method as well as the Prepare-Enrich Premarital and Marital program. Together, these assessments and interventions are extremely effective in helping couples strengthen relationships, improve communication, and navigate trouble spots that inevitably arise in long-standing relationships.
