While serving as the director and staff psychologist for over 14 years at the Counseling Service at the University of Texas Health Science Center, I had the opportunity to work with individuals presenting with wide range of presenting issues. The decision to seek psychotherapy is one that takes much courage and can positively change the current path of your life. While largely influenced by cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and person-centered theories, I believe strongly in the need to tailor my interventions to meet the specific needs of my clients.
I emphasize the importance of developing a strong relationship which is based on respect and trust. Within the context of a safe relationship, we are able to work on addressing issues creating distress for you. While dealing with adversity is hard, I believe it can be an opportunity for you to make significant life changes.
I am an adjunct clinical associate professor at UT Health San Antonio in the Department of Psychiatry. I am involved in the training of psychiatry and psychology residents.
