At KCC we work from a trauma-informed clinical perspective․ In layman's terms: we treat everything from depression to anxiety to substance use to anything that feels just "off" with the understanding that trauma usually has its fingerprints somewhere on the situation․ Instead of asking‚ "What's wrong with you?" we ask‚ "What happened to you?" And that simple shift in language changes everything about the conversation․
So our method is best described as eclectic, which is a polite way of saying we don't believe in forcing every human being through the same cookie-cutter therapeutic pr. People are not identical, so their therapy shouldn't be identical. No two sessions are ever the same. We adapt to the person sitting on the couch.
KCC also differs from many counseling centers in that we incorporate case management and co-therapy services alongside traditional psychotherapy. Our goal is to support clients not only within the therapy room but also in navigating the practical realities of daily life.
