Aloha, my name is Kit Hill and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Hawai’i. I work mostly online via telehealth. I work with older adolescents and adults who are looking for help with anger management, anxiety, and addressing their trauma. My focus is on empowering you and helping trauma survivors regain their sense of worth. I use active listening, modeling, and awareness techniques to help you become aware of what isn’t working for you. I teach breathing techniques, I encourage the use of coping devices, and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques.
You come to the sessions with expert knowledge of your life, and I come armed with professional training and experience. Together we design an action plan with achievable goals and effective strategies. This takes time and trust in my expertise, as well as trust in your ability to change your life. I look forward to working with you.
I think of myself as a helper. I strive to create a safe space where you feel empowered, relaxed, and open to finding solutions that may help you. I often start a session by asking what emotion are you experiencing (even if it is nervousness, these are your feelings) and possibly a stress rating.
