My focus is working with clients who have experienced complex trauma and are struggling to find a life outside of "survival mode". Co-occuring conditions I commonly work with alongside trauma are eating disorders, self-injury and suicidal ideation.
I primarily practice from a psychoanalytic theory of therapy, meaning I find it most helpful to look at the full picture- not just the symptom. Interventions I tend to use include sand tray, EMDR and EFT.
Somewhere along the line, we unconsciously adopted a set of rules to keep us safe. For a person who has experienced chronic stress and suffering, these rules for safety can operate more like the bars of a cage than a shield.
