Awareness around the importance of mental health has come a long way in the last few decades. However, many people still maintain a taboo around its acceptance as a vital factor in an individual’s quality of life. I want to change that. Moving from Pakistan to the United States for my undergraduate studies has provided me with a deep understanding of working with people from diverse backgrounds, and a profound appreciation of all the cultures that make up this country. I am therefore, passionate about providing a validating space for clients from all gender, sexual, and cultural identities.
I operate from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach which is based on the perceived thoughts and behaviors of individuals in relation to their environment and challenging life events. I also strongly believe that collaborating with my clients and creating a strong therapeutic relationship is the most important part of counseling.
I work with teens, adults, and couples in navigating areas such as anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, and self-worth. My goal as a counselor is to provide a space where clients can be themselves, identify their negative thinking, emphasize their strengths, and most importantly, feel safe, heard, and understood.
