I first became a teacher in 2014 hoping to make a difference. As time went on, I witnessed how students were struggling because the systems around them weren't always equipped to recognize or support the ways they experienced the world.
Over time, I realized that while systemic change is worthwhile, it can be difficult to create from within existing structures. I found myself wanting to focus on what I could influence most directly- being a consistent, supportive presence for individuals as they navigated those challenges.
