Heartsong: The expression of a person's inner essence, underlying identity, and reason for existence. Being a kid in today’s world can be overwhelming, stressful, and confusing at times. Sometimes life circumstances or traumatic situations happen that cause these big feelings for kids. I would like to offer a safe space for kids to explore these things. My hope through the counseling process is that kids will feel safe enough to grow by learning new techniques and strategies, heal from hurtful or traumatic experiences, and of course have some fun while we are at it by using play, laughter, and games.
I have over 10 years of experience working with children and families. I am a Certified Theraplay Practioner: find more info at www.theraplay.org. I am nationally certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and specialize in attachment and trauma.
I believe kids need a safe space and a trusted adult to talk to. I also believe counseling should be collaborative and kids should feel heard and their feelings validated. Parents are encouraged to be a part of the counseling process and relationship.
