I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 15 years of experience. I believe each client knows themself better than anyone and that we all have strengths and challenges. I believe a therapist is similar to an emotional GPS system, helping to guide each client to reach personal emotional goals. Like most therapists, I employ an eclectic approach to working with clients.
I incorporate a solution-focused approach along with CBT, exploring how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all tied together. I encourage clients to share their narratives while also exploring different perspectives. I am trained in anger management, trauma-focused therapy, experiential modalities as well as EMDR.
I believe I am an active listener, who will reframe statements or questions to ensure the other is heard. I create a welcoming environment, free from judgment or bias, to help clients feel emotionally safe to explore their therapy goals. I also encourage the use of positive language, both within "self-talk" and with others.
