Kimberly Marie Rothwell, BC-DMT, LCPC, CADC, GL-CMA, Counselor in Glen Ellyn
My goal is to create space for my clients to discover and to grow into who they are meant to be in their lives and in their relationships. By engaging the body mind and spirit in the work of therapy, I offer a holistic embodied approach that recognizes the deep wisdom and healing impulse of the body while enlisting mindfulness to track the ongoing process of being within oneself and responding to the world. I am continually honored to hold a grace-filled and compassionate space for the stories and discoveries of my clients.
With experience including ten years working in chemical dependency, self-injury, trauma, eating disorder and mood disorder treatment, I work along a continuum of movement from simple breath work to full body movement, and along a continuum of verbal processing from exclusively talk sessions to mostly movement sessions based upon the needs of the client.
As a therapist, wife, mother, sister, and friend, I seek to practice grace and compassion grace and compassion for myself as well as others while facing the ongoing challenges of life. Dance/movement therapy allows the experience of curious and compassionate embodiment to inform the work of therapy.

Mothers Group

In this group, we gather to support women who are experiencing the life transition of becoming a mother or facing challenges related to the role of mother. The session is part self-care, truly allowing retraining the relaxation response of the body to support the practice of motherhood, and group support session which allows for wisdom and experience of group members to lessen the pressure and increase the joy of motherhood.

More about this group

Authentic Movement

Authentic Movement is a profound yet simple practice in which participants engage in a mindfulness-based movement practice, with eyes closed, listening to their inner wisdom. The mover tracks thoughts, feelings, and sensations and follows the impulse to move within the body, allowing the healing impulse of the body to unfold with the support of a witness who holds compassionate and nonjudgmental the space for the movement.
