If we did good work together, what would be different for you? This is one of the first questions I ask every new client. What are we working toward?
It is hard for me to hear people who say, “Well I go to therapy, but we just talk and I’m not sure what we are doing.” I firmly believe you should know what we are doing, where we are trying to go, and that you should have a choice in the paths we take to get there.
I enjoy working with anyone who has a desire for change in their life. I tend to use a combination of many different techniques and frequently go outside-the-box to find the best fit for each person.
My typical client is someone who is looking for something a little different. They are willing to try some techniques/methods that are outside traditional talk therapy. There are so many different ways for self expression, self exploration, and self healing. It requires a little bravery, but the gains can be tremendous.
Seeking out therapy is difficult for anyone, and choosing the "right" therapist for you is one of the hardest parts. Overall, I am honest, direct, enjoy what I do, and continue to learn and explore new things; I believe these principles help my clients stay invested in therapy and assist them to keep moving forward.
