I see children of all ages and abilities struggling with feeding difficulties, including food selectivity, difficulty trying new foods, food refusal, and stress with eating in social situations. I have experience working with children with medical issues that affect their eating (including food allergies and GI disorders). Parents often say they wish they could cook just one family meal, take their child out to eat, or go to just one grocery store. I help parents experiencing stress during mealtimes, shopping, cooking, and offering new foods to their children.
I offer parent education and family therapy to help manage pediatric feeding disorders. I use family-friendly strategies that are easy to implement and take family’s concerns into account. My goal for children is that they learn to taste and try new foods, find their preferences, and participate in family meals and social gatherings.
I’ve watched children take their first taste of solid food, overcome fears of choking, and sit at the table with their family for the first time. I sit with parents in the stress of the moment and share tears of joy at the small successes. I listen to what parents want, discern what they need, and help children succeed.
