About

Sometimes life events throw us into a tailspin & other times it may seem like nothing at all has occurred but life isn't what it should be. Regardless of how you got there, therapy can be a safe place to figure things out, get unstuck, & move forward towards a better life. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents on the everyday problems that get in the way of really living life.
I have been licensed since 2001 & have extensive experience working with individuals and groups, focusing on anxiety (Social Anxiety & OCD), depression, and trauma/abuse. My style is warm, direct, and active, and treatment is focused and highly individualized, with the goal of improving daily functioning as quickly as possible.
Engaging in this life changing process can be scary. My goal is to create a collaborative & supportive environment where you feel safe to delve into whatever issue brings you to treatment. I have the experience to know when we need to explore slowly, as well as when it is time to push, challenging old patterns & creating the path to a more fulfilling life.

Kim Oliva's Groups

Loss and Grief

Dealing with issues of loss and grief can be very distressing and isolating. Most often, others simply do not know how to support a grieving person, leaving them to cope on their own. Working through this difficult process in a therapeutic environment and with professional guidance can result in much healthier outcomes, improved functioning, and a greater sense of support.

Postpartum Support

Having a baby is life altering, and it can be an amazing and exciting experience. But what about the other side of it, the side no one wants to talk about? Sometimes the experience brings up feelings of self-doubt, sadness, numbness, overwhelm, exhaustion... What if I don't bond with my baby? What if this changes everything with my partner? What if I am a bad parent? What is wrong with me? Working through this transitional process in a therapeutic environment and with professional guidance can result in a much healthier outcome, improved functioning, and a greater sense of support.
