Is your child struggling to cope with strong emotions? Is this causing stress for your family? Is your child or family, coping with trauma and other social, emotional, and behavioral issues? Counseling can help your child become emotionally expressive. Your child will build confidence and self-esteem though a strengths-based play therapy approach. Your child will receive empathy and compassion during sessions, but may also be challenged. I work with clients experiencing traumatic events (abuse/neglect, car accident), depression and anxiety, grief and loss, ADHD, school difficulties/bullying, life transitions (moving, divorce).
My specialty is play therapy. I am also trained in attachment based models and EMDR. These expressive techniques allow your child to explore experiences and emotions safely in session. Play therapy creates an atmosphere where your child will feel welcomed and more open to sharing. Flexible scheduling is offered, and most insurance plans are accepted.
I would be happy to assist your child or family in coping with strong emotions, or stressful events. My availability is usually so that I can schedule an initial assessment within 1-2 weeks.
