I have over 29 years experience in helping couples with communication and conflict problems. I take a systematic perspective and use a variety of techniques to restore emotional connection and teach skills that promote a solid, happy relationship. Therapy starts with a thorough assessment to pinpoint strengths and stress points of each person and the relationship.
My areas of expertise include working with law enforcement, premarital, discernment counseling/couples on the brink of divorce, infidelity, blended family issues, adolescent issues, and grief and bereavement. I am trained in a divorce-prevention technique called Discernment therapy and a trauma-resolution process called Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.
I am very comfortable working with couples from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, occupational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I continually learn about new theories, research, and techniques, and implement them into practice when appropriate. I believe my job is to inspire hope and challenge clients to view their problems as opportunities for growth.
