I see my work as that of a consultant to your life situation. The primary task is to understand how our emotions, & the emotions of those we love & interact with, informs the quality of our relational life. In other words, to gain greater emotional intelligence. And what does that mean? To gain a greater understanding of ourselves, & those we love, by learning about inner life and how best to express what we feel, need and want from each other. Better communication makes for better partnering, parenting & family membership.
I work with couples. individuals, groups & families. Theoretically I draw heavily from Susan Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dan Wile's Collaborative Couple Therapy and the psycho-educational material of researcher John Gottman. Additionally, I draw from the most recent material in neuroscience & relevant mindfulness practices.
I believe that all humans want essentially the same thing: to love and be loved. To that end I've made the question of what helps or hinders the giving and receiving of love the central inquiry of my personal and professional life. I love my work & find it an honor to help others.
