About
From years of working with severe trauma, dissociation, and psychosis, we learned that everyone strives to be in relationship, but the stress of relationships can also cause trauma, urges to self-harm, dissociation, and even psychosis. When we can't make our relationships work, we say and do things we don't want to, and we can feel - and seem - "crazy." We have learned that the best way to sustainably resolve the problems we confront in ourselves is to focus on problems ˆBETWEEN people, rather than looking for something "wrong" with people that we can "fix."
My partner Louisa and I often work as a team, occasionally even with individuals. This stems from the idea that the basic unit of human life IS the relationship, rather than any individual. We maintain a systemic, interpersonal (rather than diagnostic or pathologizing) approach, fostering safe dialogue. We are engaged with you in the project of being human.
We use mindfulness-, somatic-, trauma-informed approaches, and dialogical, narrative, & collaborative philosophy, EMDR, and reflecting practice. We find our different styles means one of us is likely to connect with a client, and our different genders balances the room. Sometimes we go for walks on the property, sometimes with the goats. We love what we do.

Kermit Cole's Groups
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
We draw on Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as well as Relapse Prevention (MBCT). Both were built on the eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, and have shown great results in resolving a range of issues, from depression to addiction. We love leading the groups because by the end of them people find that they are dealing with the same issues humans around the world have dealt with throughout time: craving, clinging, grasping, fear, and the need for connection. Which is why these practices have stood the test of time.
