We all have a story to tell. Our lives are full of hopes and dreams, fears and struggles. No matter if the client in front of me is a twenty year old struggling with their gender or sexual identity, a couple in their 40's experiencing mismatched desire, or a 60 year old with sexual dysfunction concerns, we all need someone to listen and support us. I consider myself to be an empathetic therapist. I want to support my client as best as I can. I also know that it isn't easy to go to therapy and I want to be someone who starts with where the client is at, but also know that I can be direct at times if needed, and softer at other times.
As an AASECT (American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists) certified sex therapist (CST), and an LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) for over 20 years, I can offer a vast array of knowledge and clinical experience to my couples. I provide homework for the client inbetween sessions, to be able to continue working on their goals.
I know it takes time to build rapport, and I am patient. The goal from the very first session is to eventually end therapy, so I am always aware of goals changing but being reached. I pace therapy sessions with your comfort level.One session may be different than the next. The goals at the beginning of a session may be different than at the end of a session.
