As an adoptee, and through my life experiences working with Asian , Pacific-Islander, Hawaiian, Latinx and other demographics I am particularly sensitive to honor each individual's unique history.
Life is complicated. Stress is inevitable. And, if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by life or stressors it's ok to talk to someone. Therapy can help individuals, couples, and families to journey through life by making small changes which can have a big positive impact on how you approach and balance the many complex systems of life. As a therapist I will work with you to discover and restore your inner peace, improve communication, and provide feedback to discover what the next right step will before you.

My ideal client is someone who recognizes the need for change in their life, but may not know how to go about it to produce positive results. I primarily treat adults and teens who are struggling with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and relationship issues. In addition, cultivating self-awareness and figuring out what goals you have is a big part of therapy no matter what you come in with and is something everyone could benefit from. Being open to talk about hard things is difficult, but also very brave. I see it as a privilege to get to work with those who are ready to make that step in a safe validating environment.

With our world increasingly changing every day, feelings of ‘uncertainty’ are constantly on the rise. Often, we can find it difficult to consistently meet the challenges and demands of our given lifestyle. But add to this that we are frequently taken to task by a ‘surprise unknown’ or two: Lost jobs. Lost relationships. Health issues. Even a lost childhood pulling at you. Maybe all of the above, and then some! Of course, each of us tries to meet these unknowns to the best of our ability. And at times even our absolute best efforts won’t get us back on course.

I know, I know. You'd rather tough it out alone using your steely grit and white knuckle resolve. But let's say that hasn't been working so well lately. On the off chance that you might want a passenger on your mental health journey, or even just someone to discuss a few questions that have been on your mind, I've been told I'm a pretty good listener. I have experience working with folks dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, life on the autism spectrum, adjusting to a new phase of life, etc. but no problem is too big or small for us to tackle.

When the the decision fatigue is real- Feeling overwhelmed with all the responsibilities of adulting? Trying to find a good work/life balance? Finding yourself stuck in a cycle of being attracted to all the “wrong people?” Having a hard time prioritizing your life, being appropriately assertive, and setting boundaries? Life can often feel “too much” and you find yourself wanting to do and be better but when you stop to try and figure it out, it’s so overwhelming. So, you do nothing instead because it’s easier to just avoid. If you're a parent, that adds another extra layer of "too much," exhaustion, and stress.

You've handled anxiety in the past. You pushed through the stress, kept your head above water, survived. You've shrugged off healthy habits and are too restless to take advice like 'exercise, take breaks and have some fun.' You think, "I'll be better when I finish (blank)." But will it? So you bury thoughts and feelings, keep moving, and distract yourself from overwork, over-responsibility and over-worrying. What you need might not be more advice. What might help more is hope that you can calm anxious thoughts, decrease anger and be more present at home or at work. You might just need convincing that habits and thoughts can change.

In today’s world, we witness a plethora of stressors, which affect our day to day life’s mental health wellbeing. With the increased stress, and exhaustion in routine life, meeting the demands of family, work, and personal goals, especially during the pandemic period, it gets difficult to cope. The restrictions of social distancing has further isolated individuals who are seeking support to manage their overwhelming psycho emotional state. This extent of exertion leads to mental health issues e.g., depression, anxiety. These individuals can be a wife, a mother, a student, a teacher, a doctor, or a mental health professional.

Do you hide unexplained anxiety or anger under a calm 'put-together' exterior? Do you struggle with self-defeating behaviors and don't really know why? You may be struggling because of developmental trauma. The effects of adverse childhood experiences continue on into adulthood: difficulty trusting, difficulty tolerating and regulating emotions and often physical challenges such as autoimmune issues. I provide emotional support and insightful relational engagement to help you overcome developmental trauma and begin to flourish and thrive instead of just survive.

Every person is unique in their own way, and as such, so are their problems. Therapy is a unique and special journey for every individual and child, and it is my job to make sure I am there to successfully guide them through the process. I strive to help my clients break free from their feelings of despair, dissatisfaction, and dismay and gain or regain a sense of control, peace, and wholeness. While my specialty began in couples counseling, I have found that working with children and adolescents is what brings me a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

How can I find a therapist in Kentucky?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
