I strive to help clients achieve their personal goals and gain greater insight in to their lives. I assist clients in developing self-understanding and self-awareness and help them build self-confidence and self-esteem. I help clients to recognize, understand, and work through difficulties. I encourage clients to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, and relationship issues. I impart skills and facilitate learning opportunities in a confidential and supportive environment where clients can share and explore their concerns.
As someone who’s been both the client and the counselor, I recognize that asking for help is the first step towards healing, and often the most difficult. As such, it is of paramount importance my clients feel heard, but more importantly, understood. In session, I utilize a narrative approach, with elements of CBT, mindfulness, and expressive arts. Along with experience treating anxiety and depression, I specialize in working with the LGBTQIA community, as well as helping clients process grief and loss.

I am practicing as an Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychoanalyst Candidate under the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. Since 2003 my work experience includes a diverse range of trauma; military, sexual, childhood, domestic violence, as well as a variety of mental health and behavioral challenges. I have served in nursing homes, school systems, psychiatric hospital, Department of Defense in Child Adolescent Psychiatry Services, Adult Behavioral Health, and the Family Advocacy Program. I enjoy working with children, families, soldiers, and individuals to help them to reach their goals by overcoming the challenges that we all face.
I became a therapist to help others. More importantly, to assist others in learning to help themselves. This is especially true with adolescents, young adults and their families. We can often be both the reasons for and products of poorly functioning family environments. I enjoy getting to know teens, adults and families as we identify their shared goals and needs. My best days come when clients and families laugh more than they cry, love more than they fight and succeed more than they struggle. With better knowledge, skills and communication, we can create more positive environments for yourselves and others
