Coming from a background of human developmental, I presently work with all ages and trajectories. I deal with a wide range of issues and disorders. My interests also include developmental disabilities, parenting, and the special concerns of very able and creative individuals. As appropriate, I employ a variety of treatment modalities, including behavioral, cognitive, and insight-oriented, with emphasis on understanding clearly clients' needs, collecting useful information, and coming up with positively-oriented plans that fit them as well as being most likely to work.
We begin by learning about each other. Using various procedures including the interview/examination, questionnaires, and sometimes input from other sources. The client also learns about my way of working, and together we create a multidimensional profile, leading to an overall strategy and more specific treatment plan.
Before choosing psychology as my career, I determined that I wanted to do something that helped people using a rational, scientific approach. Following a wide-ranging and sometimes meandering path, this eventually led to my clinical practice. My goal is to help my clients identify and achieve their goals in life, with as much personal control as possible.
