My name is Ken Dunham. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I approach therapy with the core concept that all humans are "hard-wired" for connection. My counseling style concentrates on a holistic and eclectic approach that looks at the thoughts, feelings, behavior, and beliefs of the client. I regularly use Psychoeducation, e.g., Neuroscience, and other types of evidence-based research. EFT, CBT, Solutions Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Family Systems Therapy. I have additional training in trauma, attachment, and working with unwanted sexual behaviors and addictions.
I want clients to feel safe, supported, and emotionally validated. While using a warm, client-centered style, I like to balance empathy with real measurable goals and challenge clients based on their needs and move at their pace. Growing up, I often found myself in relationships where I was the helper or supporter.
I worked a number of customer-related service jobs, administrative and managerial vocations, and went to individual therapy to heal from a chaotic household. I went back to school once I was able to identify my strengths and personal values. My hope is that everyone I work with will know they are worthy of love, care, and attunement.
