Are you worried you have an eating disorder? Are you a perfectionist who procrastinates? Are you an introvert or just do not get people sometimes? Are you harder on yourself than anyone else? Do you have trouble letting go of things even when you know it would be better for you? Do you struggle with your body image or self esteem? If you struggle with any of these (or all of them!), my blend of authenticity and evidenced based treatments is kind of different from your usual therapist, so if you think you need someone to tell it to you straight without too much touchy feely stuff, we might be a good match.
Though I am primarily a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapist, I prefer to use an eclectic approach with each client to account for their specific needs. This will include not only DBT, but RO-DBT, CPT, CBT, ACT, self-compassion and mindfulness training. I've been focusing on clients struggling with eating disorders since 2004.
I tend to be very straightforward and think it is important to be authentic, honest, and compassionate with clients more than to focus on a modality or intervention. Sometimes I can be a little too blunt - the clients I connect with the best will be looking for that in their therapist!
