Therapy is a delicate art and a science. Finding the right therapist is important. I use an attachment-focused orientation, and tools from EMDR, Ego State Theory, CBT, 12-step recovery model, and other modalities. I have enjoyed a rich 25-year career as a trauma informed specialist. I have supervised and directed programs in public and non-profit sectors. Adoption is my specialty, as well as work with teens, young adults and families.
I use several evidenced based practices, such as EMDR, TF-CBT, PCIT, the Nurtured Heart Approach, Gottman methods, etc. I treat trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, recovery from abuse/addiction, relationships, phase of life and gender/sexuality hardships. I have worked with families, couples, adolescents and young adults in various treatment settings.
I embrace a rich heritage (Chippewa Indian, Norwegian, French, etc.), am conversant in Spanish, and have served mainly African-American, Latino, and American Indian clients throughout my career. I believe culture and spirituality enrich our lives, build resilience and increase the efficacy of treatment.
