If I were a tattoo artist, you could come into my shop and flip through my portfolio to check out my style. I'd be a new-school mash-up artist, but one who also likes fine-line portraiture. Big custom work often has themes around memorials and body horror (because I do work with grief, trauma, and sexuality). I am not a tattoo artist, but maybe this metaphor gives you an idea of who I am and how I work. The work we do together is customized and collaborative. Sometimes "the work" is painful, but it's beautiful in the end, and it is yours to carry with you.
My work tends to be depth-oriented with a focus on how our early learning and life patterns have shaped us. Understanding where we came from is an important piece of the puzzle, but change is more than simply understanding why. I pull from experiential modalities like somatic work, parts work, and arts practice to help bridge those gaps.
Finding a therapist is hard and awkward. I offer free 15-minute calls to help you decide if I am a person you might come to trust. I encourage you to ask any questions that will help you think through that process including questions about how I approach sessions, how I see clients create change, or my views on the world. Therapy is political.
