I have been in the counseling field for over 30 years and have spent my time in Community Mental Health and Private Practice. I believe in the power of the human spirit to rise above the suffering that we all experience. Mindfulness is the foundation of my practice and I believe that becoming aware of our thinking patterns and distortions can move us in the direction of less suffering. When we can live in the present moment we can be free of the past and the depression this can cause and free of the future where anxiety and worry can reside. We can shed the stories we have carried for many years and develop a more spiritual path.
Thich Nhat Hanh states that "when we are mindful, touching deeply the present moment, the fruits are always understanding, acceptance, love, and the desire to relieve suffering and bring joy." I do not pretend to be a master of this practice. I am on a similar journey as you. I would be honored to assist you on your journey.
