Anyone looking for therapy deserves a lot of credit just for thinking about getting help. I really appreciate when people choose to talk to me about their lives. It can be very difficult to find a therapist from a profile and then open up to them.
For me, the client is in charge and I think my job is to help people become happier. I want to help the client figure out what they want to work toward and then together we work on that. I like to have regular conversations about how to move forward.
I specialize in behavioral addictions and trauma. I have worked with hundreds of people with gambling problems but I also work with people who have problematic video game play, and pornography issues as well. This means working with families and the underlying causes of addictive behaviors.
Many people who are struggling don't realize how many other people are, or have been in a very similar place. Addictive behavior makes people feel isolated and makes us violate our values so we feel bad about the things we have done. I definitely understand. We can talk and decide if we want to start on a journey of therapy and recovery. I am happy to share.
