Welcome; I specialize in anxiety, depression, anger management, couple therapy, and life transitions. (divorce, loss, career change, family relationships) I enjoy helping young adults, adults, couples, families, and seniors. I use a variety of approaches including: cognitive therapy, Gottman theory, Jung, developmental psychology, solution focused therapy, and family systems theory. Many of my clients, as they resolve their initial concerns, become interested in using a more depthful, introspective approach which leads to long term growth and meaningful life changes and direction.
I have a directive, practical approach to therapy which is easy to understand, and integrate. I like to balance empathy and support with guidance and direction. A well timed sense of humor is also important. Many clients, who have not made progress in prior attempts at therapy, feel that my directive approach and feedback have helped them reach their goals.
Before I became a therapist, I was a guitar teacher and mentor for teenagers and adults. I found that music can express and touch places where words could not. I enjoy using music as a therapeutic tool to express creativity, reduce stress and help process complex difficult emotions. Please inquire how music can be used to compliment individual therapy.
