The most genuine way I can think to start this personal statement is by disclosing how difficult I have found it to write what you are now reading (or skimming). I'd like to show you that I know your pain, but I don't know all the ins and outs of your many experiences leading up to this point in your life. What I do know is that there is often loneliness in feeling unseen, unknown, or misunderstood. I find meaning in working with individuals who feel detached or disconnected from others, their surroundings, or even themselves.
