I specialize in working with clients that try to manage life's pain with substances and other addictions. Many of my clients want to simply change their using habits and I work to support them weekly in understanding their intentions, feelings and motivations as they make healthy changes to their relationship with alcohol or other drugs. As we well know, many clients suffering from substance use disorders have a myriad of other issues that drive these compulsive coping mechanisms; I am a certified EMDR therapist and EMDR consultant in training utilizing this knowledge to help resolve underlying concerns related to trauma.
For the past 14 years I have worked to create a therapeutic approach that is patient, compassionate and understanding of the process of addiction. I have a keen interest in utilizing eastern philosophy in my therapeutic approach including meditation training and mindfulness along with ACT, EMDR and IFS. My attention focuses on healing the underlying causes.
With a personal history of alcohol and drug addiction, I come with over 14 years of sobriety to the therapeutic relationship and share my experience to help clients.
