I approach counseling as a team effort. Together we will create goals and together we will track progress toward completion. It is in this "space between" therapist and client where the work ignites. I believe all healing is self-healing so the importance of finding tools that work for the individual is an important aspect of the process. Human growth is a continued practice and not a destination. Determining how to navigate a specific issue is a good initial objective. Learning how to navigate future issues with effective tools is part of that human growth practice.
Developing self-awareness, self-acceptance, and understanding supports growth. Using a holistic approach brings us into alignment with ourselves and others. Reflecting on our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual states is the method I use to gather shared insight. Only after we know where we are, can we decide where we want to go; flexibility is key.
Besides Counseling Licensure, I am certified in Pilates, Healing Touch, and Aromatherapy. I use these along with Cognitive Therapy methods, DBT skills training, meditation, and IMAGO therapy.
