I am Kelly Dwyer and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based near Virginia Beach, Virginia. My approach to therapy is as unique as each therapeutic relationship built - it's based on the individual needs of each person as well as the strategies with the best evidence of helping that situation. My focus areas of practice are wide, as my experience has spanned over 20 years. I work with adolescents, adults, and older populations and specialize in mental health including providing support when "life just life's too hard" all the way to major depression, anxiety, and delusional thought patterns.
I have worked, and still work with a wide variety of people each day. I am having difficulty articulating this however, I will do my best. There isn't much that makes me uncomfortable which, I will say, has been a direct result of varied work history in the mental health field along with a variety of lived experiences as well.
My communication style is about as real as they come. I'm open and honest, but can read a room (or a Zoom meeting ha!) and know what is needed. I am told by friends, colleagues, and almost everyone I have worked with as a client that I am down to earth.
