Art therapy can access the mind, body, and emotions in ways that are distinct from verbal expression alone. At Indigo, we love empowering people to discover and harness their own creativity for healing. Common therapeutic goals at Indigo Art Therapy may include coping with anxiety and stress, managing strong feelings, healing from trauma, improving self-expression and communication, creating emotional awareness and adaptability, developing insight and self-compassion, and nurturing healthy relationships and boundaries. Art skills are not necessary to benefit from art therapy. Progress can happen through scribbles and stick figures.
Our trauma-informed approach incorporates sensorimotor art therapy, mindfulness, and somatic exploration. We work with all ages and abilities and specialize in working with individuals with anxiety, autism, ADHD, trauma, and those who are nonverbal or have struggled to make progress with traditional forms of therapy.
Indigo Art Therapy is a sensory-friendly safe space where diverse abilities, communication styles, gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural and ethnic backgrounds are respected and valued. We care deeply about the individuals and families we serve and are continuously working towards making our services accessible and inclusive.
