I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with survivors of domestic violence and or sexual violence, dealing with symptoms of post-traumatic stress Disorder. Although I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, I prefer to use an eclectic approach to counseling based on the needs of the individual.
During my 25+ years as a counselor, I have learned that several theories are beneficial to counseling. The ones that I primarily use are CBT, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, REBT, and Client-Centered Therapy. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual needs of the client.
My communication style is relaxed, friendly, and genuine, with elements of humor. I want clients to feel comfortable and safe sharing anything they need to without fear of judgment. I have the chance to work with people from all walks of life and varying degrees of pain and trauma. I am compassionate and honest, and I provide feedback and support.
