Helping people improve their relationships and to re-engage in their life in ways that are healthy is my primary focus. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon, then went on to get my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Appalachian State University. I have been working with couples, individuals, and families for more than six years and I continue to pursue higher certifications in couple’s therapy. I also offer supervision, and I have enjoyed my time as a supervisor here at Accent Counseling, Inc. as well.
I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy as my primary treatment method when working with couples. This is designed to help couples recognize their negative interaction patterns that they get stuck in and stop them from happening. Or at least manage them in a way that can be productive for developing communication in the relationship.
I enjoy getting to know people and listening to their stories. My focus comes from a systemic lens, meaning that I see cultural and environmental factors as contributors to life struggles. This also means that there are many parts that impact a person’s ability to interact with themselves and others.
