People come to me for many reasons. Some are experiencing a crisis, a transition, or are feeling stuck and seek a more satisfying way forward. I work to create a non-judgmental environment so that whatever parts of your story that need attention can be effectively explored. I use an active, engaged style. The goal is to find more effective ways of interacting with yourself and others. We look closely at how the symptoms you carry (e.g., depression, anxiety, addictive behaviors) maintain themselves despite your wish to be free of them. I use the therapeutic relationship to understand what gets in your way interpersonally.

I work best with clients who are motivated to grow through uncovering patterns of perception and behavior that remain unconscious until we shine light on them, perhaps even helping to alter them. I work with couples on blocks to communication and intimacy, and in helping people through addictions, recovery, and during chronic illness.

In addition to working with individuals and couples, I run psychotherapy groups for adults and can explain more if you're interested. What's important is that you find a therapist who is a good fit. Contact me to arrange a time to talk so we can decide whether it makes sense to go forward.

Keith Rand's Groups

Co-ed Adult Process/Therapy Group

The adult process/therapy group meets for 90 minutes every week. In this group, people can discuss whatever problems with which they are dealing, with an eye towards learning about oneself, your often-unconscious ways of thinking about the problem, and the emotional experience you have in life as a result. Special attention is paid to what is happening in the here-and-now of the group as a mode for learning about one's habitual interpersonal dynamics, which may unknowingly contribute to problems. Please contact me for more information.
