Therapeutic relationships are odd—you enter a relationship with a total stranger and bring them into the depths of your world. I don’t take this endeavor lightly... it’s an honor to build trust with someone in order to support them with their goals, including really digging into what’s going well and what’s getting in the way. I believe that increasing awareness provides opportunity for true choice–moving forward with intentional & authentic agency. Our main efforts will be to stay curious and compassionate so we can deepen understanding of experiences, thoughts, emotions, body sensations, relationships, actions, beliefs and values.
I’m committed to providing identity-affirming care & tend to support folks in areas of sexuality, relationships, gender, attachment, values alignment, complex trauma, substance use &community engagement. I believe the therapeutic process also necessitates exploring the impact of power & oppression on individuals & communities, including in our relationship.
Building enough trust and safety is vital for engaging in beneficial work together. My approach is deeply relational and from a psychodynamic lens with recognition that our early/past experiences and attachments impact us consciously and often unconsciously in the present.
