My name is Kayla Akers, and I work with people navigating some of life’s most tender seasons, especially the perinatal period: pregnancy, postpartum, fatherhood, infertility, loss, surrogacy, and adoption. I don’t come with all the answers — you’re the expert on your life. I offer a supportive ear and a space to show up as you are. I also work with trauma, ADHD, OCD, college-aged adults, recovery, and older adults navigating change. My approach is person-centered and relational, drawing on DBT, parts work, ART, and ERP. Certified PMH-C, IPPE-C, DC:0-5.
I pull from a range of evidence-based approaches including Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, ACT, DBT, ART, ERP and somatic work, but what that really means in practice is that I meet you where you are and use what actually fits.
