Do obsessive thoughts about food choices, weight gain, and body changes take up an unhealthy amount of mental space? Are your desires to be a healthy mother in conflict with your preoccupation with body image or dieting? Are you afraid of “getting too big” or never “getting back to normal”? Perhaps you are having trouble getting pregnant, or fear passing your weight anxieties onto your children. Changes in body image can feel like an identity crisis, leading to anxiety and depression. I work to alleviate the feelings of being out of control, guilty, and ashamed by rebuilding self-compassion and self-trust around food choices.
Through an integrative therapeutic approach, we will increase self-awareness paving the way for a more peaceful relationship with food and your body. By reconnecting with your body’s wisdom through intuitive eating, we will establish the power to make decisions, and treat your body with forgiveness, kindness, and gratitude, allowing your mind to relax.
I recognize it is hard to let go of an unhealthy mental space that also feels normal, comfortable, and known. When dieting isn't punishing, it can feel good like order, structure, responsibility. I offer support and clinical expertise to help you find a new, stronger connection with yourself and world that can nourish your deeper values and desires.
