My approach to therapy is strength-based and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that we all are doing the best that we know how, given our past and current experiences. With a deeper exploration and understanding of what we feel and why we cope the way we do, we can slowly start to shift unwanted ways of responding and start living with more clarity and intention.
I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years in a variety of treatment settings including college counseling centers and hospitalization programs. My work has focused on helping individuals improve their relationships with self and with others.
I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, and I understand these issues as meaningful attempts to cope. You do not need to have an eating disorder to work with me, as I view struggles with food, body image, or control as connected to deeper questions about identity, safety, and self-trust, and this informs the work that I do with all of my clients.
My ultimate goal is to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship that allows you to safely and honestly express yourself. With curiosity and compassion, I strive to help you understand your unique strengths and gain further insight as to what might be keeping you stuck.
