I have counseled people struggling with marriage, anxiety, eating disorders, severe depression, and trauma of every kind for over 25 years. I enjoy seeing people overcome fears. I do cognitive-behavioral therapy in which we examine disturbing thoughts that lead to fear, worry, anxiety, and other "joy-robbing" emotions. Through the use of positive thoughts and reinforcing behavior, negative thought processes are broken down and new confidence is restored.
I place an emphasis on how people see themselves. When confidence is lacking, people get depressed, anxious, bored and isolated. Clients have commented on my confidence and ability to give them hope and encouragement. I pay more attention to a person's strengths than to labels or diagnoses.
