About
I enjoy working with individuals, couples and groups on a variety of mental health needs including anxiety, racing mind, motivation, writer's block, communication and listening skills, goal setting, distress and frustration tolerance skills, values clarification, medical distress, grief and social distress (discrimination, lack of social supports). I work to integrate humor, compassion, mindfulness, non-judgmental curiosity in all aspects of my work. I see people ages 18 and older. Please call if you feel I can be of help.
I work with clients in a focused, productive manner.Having been trained in psycho dynamic psychotherapy, I also utilize cognitive behavioral techniques, positive psychology and solution focus approaches. I have personally done mindfulness practices for 30 years (meditation, tai chi) and comfortable incorporating awareness practices into therapy.
With couples, I help them listen, uncover assumptions, learn healthy expectations in relationship. As a consultant for primary care providers (for clients in medical distress, or acute psychological distress) I provided psychological interventions. I hope to help clients learn self compassion, set reasonable goals and expectations for themselves.
