My name is Kathy Poissot and I am a LMHC based in Seattle, WA and work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults 18 years and older and specialize in general mental health and relationship challenges using CBT and DBT to help clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach to therapy varies based on the individual needs of each client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as both methods help the client and myself build a common understanding of their situation, and we can begin to create a plan to move forward.
My communication style is personable, empathic, and open-minded with a little bit of humor to create an environment where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to achieve their personal goals. I want clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and then feel that we can work together to make their life better.
My approach to goal setting with clients is working together to define what you want to work on, change, and accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust, getting comfortable with what therapy means, and thinking and talking about what you want to learn and change. We will work together to set goals and track your progress.
