My name is Katherine Brown and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the fields of depressive and anxiety disorders, trauma, substance use disorders, grief and loss, and adjustment disorders. My philosophy of therapy is that everyone has the right to self-determination and the ability to get better, they sometimes just don’t realize it yet and that’s where I come into play. My therapeutic approach is very client-centered and I utilize various theoretical approaches grounded in evidenced-based research that’s the best fit possible for my client.
My communication style is very empathic, understanding, and non-judgmental. I also utilize a lot of processing for insight and awareness, and I provide support to my clients as they use this awareness to help move them toward the action stage of their healing journey.
I provide support to clients in developing personal goals that are realistic, measurable, and time-based. This goal-setting process also helps one stay committed to their therapy goals, as well as maintains accountability.
